Our Commitment to a Welcoming and Hopeful Organization

Community Legal Aid SoCal is a welcoming and hopeful organization where everyone – clients, volunteers, and staff alike with the full array of diverse characteristics, backgrounds, and experiences – feels listened to, deeply cared for, valued, supported, and celebrated so we may be unified, responsive, and powerful in our work together to advance equity, sense of belonging, humanity, justice, and joy. CLA SoCal actively identifies and challenges systems and structures that harm and disenfranchise members of our community.

How We Do This

  • Deeply root our commitment to celebrating our differences and creating a culture of acceptance.

  • Be intentional in the cases we select and impact advocacy we pursue to achieve the greatest impact in the advancement of justice for our clients and in our community.

  • Our commitment to being a welcoming and hopeful organization is as a life-long journey where we set concrete goals that we hold ourselves and one another accountable to.

  • Along this journey, we will honor a learning mind, be thoughtful with the language we use, seek to understand and learn from/about one another, listen more and judge less, have courageous conversations, give ourselves and others grace and understanding, practice humility, and celebrate all differences.

We honor that our offices are located on Tongva land and we are committed to upholding equal access to justice for our community members who currently reside on this land.
